To thine ownself be true.
Polonius had it right, in spite of his long-windedness. The power of transparency, of integrity and honesty…be yourself, no matter what. It’s amazing how many folks are dying to see who you are, what you do and understand…why.
Listening to National Public Radio some time ago, I heard about how teachers were leaving the profession. One teacher in particular shared that the central office types are making our jobs harder, not easier or better. That point stuck with me. The advice that Zoom Room focuses in on isn’t bad advice. Of course, The Daily Grind makes another point that is relevant to administrators caught up in the reality of Central Office:
…it is easy to forget that we serve our students. We don’t serve the community, though they have power and influence; we don’t serve the parents, even the ones that actually take the time to get invovled; we don’t serve our government, despite what they believe. We teach students. Don’t ever forget how important those lives are to the future of our society.

If we can do as this advice says, maybe we can all become more than who we are.
