Thanks to a late call for presentations, and some feedback from the person who sent it out, I’ve submitted the following session:
Thrills and Chills – How to Transition from Moodle 1.9.x to Moodle 2.x
SHORT DESCRIPTIONIn a few short months, anyone using Moodle 1.9.x. will face a startling truth–official support for Moodle 1.9.x. will end. Are you ready to make the transition from Moodle 1.9.x to Moodle 2.x? This session will model the steps you will need to take.
Wondering how you can upgrade from Moodle 1.9.x to Moodle 2.x? If yes, then the session facilitator will walk you through the process. That process involves learning how to convert your database from MyISAM to INNODB using tools like phpMyAdmin or SQLYog (Windows/Linux), or Sequel Pro (Mac). You will also learn to export, import, and upgrade an entire Moodle instance. Attention will also be given to backing up your Moodle instance’s 3 main components, which include 1) The MySQL database; 2) The config.php file in your Moodle PHP folder; and 3) Your MoodleData. Also discussed will be what to do about your favorite mods and blocks. This is a technical session, rife with thrills and chills; the easily frustrated need not attend (smile).
- Addiing Certificates to Your Moodle Courses
- Setting Up Moodle on Your Laptop
- Managing Compliance Courses with Moodle
- Using External Database Authentication with Moodle
Of course, I’m sure that once I share my roadmap for the transition from Moodle 1.9 to 2.x, some will say, “This is how NOT to transition!” (laugh).
