Aside from a nice splash screen and a few other modifications (simpler toolbar at opening and within programs) I don’t see much that is exciting about the OpenOffice 4 Kids…except that it is geared towards “kids.” Check out their wiki online. Watch this short video overview…
While the “super-fast” part didn’t come across on my computer, since both OOO4Kids and OpenOffice 3.1 opened fast, perhaps it would make a difference on a slower machine. Any other experiences out there?

Open Office 4 Kids is good for adults, too
-
Open Office 4 Kids is a slimmed-down version of the open source Microsoft Office alternative OpenOffice.org.
The target age group for Open Office 4 Kids is 7-12

Less UI clutter helps make OO4K super-fast
-
OO4Kids also has large, very obvious buttons for all of the most common functions of each Office app.
